Preparations for the 9th Africa Water Week (AWW9), scheduled to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from 13 – 18 October, are in full swing. With over 1,500 participants expected from across Africa and beyond, this pivotal event will serve as a platform to assess progress toward the Africa Water Vision, evaluate the current landscape, and initiate discussions on shaping the post-2025 Africa Water Vision and policy, complete with an actionable implementation framework.

Key Highlights of AWW9
- Over 40 technical sessions will be held across five days, covering financing, water and sanitation, water resources management, infrastructure, knowledge management, and youth involvement.
- Thematic plenary sessions will focus on transboundary water management and parliamentarians’ role in unlocking financial resources for the water and sanitation sector.
- Synthesis sessions will analyze key outcomes, aligning them with progress reported under the Water Sector and Sanitation Monitoring and Reporting system, ensuring a solid foundation for the post-2025 Africa Water Vision and policy.
- A vibrant networking space, where over 30 industry experts and companies will showcase brands, products, and solutions, fostering collaboration and business opportunities.
- High-level opening and closing ceremonies, featuring influential sector leaders, including Hon. Hani Sewilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, the AMCOW President, representatives from the African Union Commission, and the African Development Bank.
- The 14th Executive Committee meeting of the AMCOW Executive Council will take place on 16th October, deliberating on key outcomes and ensuring commitment to the successful implementation of recommendations.
